Undo certain Gmail actions in your mobile browser

Sometimes when I’m using Gmail on my phone, I delete a message by mistake or label it incorrectly. Sure I can fish the message out of my Trash or remove the label and apply the correct one, but that takes several steps. Even just a few seconds is usually enough time to catch those annoying mistakes.

Now when you use the Gmail mobile web app, you’ll have a small window of opportunity to undo four key actions: archive, delete, add or remove a label, or move a message/conversation.

When you take one of these actions, Gmail displays a yellow bar that recaps what you just did and allows you to undo it:

This bar stays in position even if you move to another screen (e.g. moving to ‘Menu’ from ‘Inbox’). If you don’t happen to catch your mistake in time, not to worry: all four actions can still be undone through other means (e.g. you can move a message from Trash back into your Inbox).

Try it out at gmail.com in the browser of your Android or iOS device.

Update: 9:09am Pacific time 4/19/11 - This update is available for phones running Android or iOS, but not tablet devices with the two-pane Gmail UI. It is also now available for BlackBerry OS 6.0 phones.

  3. Whoa, don't forget, at the bottom you can say that it works on a Blackberry too. People are always looking for reasons to say that Blackberrys just don't have the same capability, but it works the same way on my Blackberry at gmail.com on the mobile browser. Lets throw that in there too. ;)

  4. Would be great to be able to undo "send" too. It's probably happened half a dozen times that I was typing away and reached for the P key and it interpretted it as hitting the [Send] button which is directly above. Argh!!

Now I can do undo which not meant to be done. And now it will be easy for me to do these things. I am hoping for some beneficial aspects and apps.

  8. That is nice.. BUT
i still use my HTC Touch hd, with windows mobile 6.1

and when i type www.gmail.com on opera it dosent work. (i only get a white screen.. on the page dosent finish to load.... i event tried on wifi..)

i have to login on i google and on another gmail page twice, and reload the page in order to have my inbox appears...

at the end is simpler to just use the messaging program installed on the phone and configure all on IMAP.

  9. found a page that detailed a way to trim a youtube video. Which incidentally reminded me about tubechop. I read over the page that showed me another way to do it. I liked it because it uses the actual youtube video and inserts start and end tags (the end tag didn’t seem to work for me), where-as tubechop actually takes a copy of the youtube video and hosts it on it’s own servers. And frankly, I know nothing about these people and how long they intend to be around. So if you use it, then one day it just might not be there anymore. I have included both methods for you here anyway

  11. While I appreciate the undo, it seems odd that delete is so easy to get to? I never delete mail from gmail. I thought that was whole point of gmail and one of the selling features?
