Searching with Google on your Windows Phone 7 device just got easier. The Google Search app for Windows Phone 7 provides quick and convenient access to a rich set of search results, allowing you to search the web, images, local, news, and more.
Update: here is a link to the app in Zune Marketplace. You'll need to be using a Windows Phone 7 device or Internet Explorer for the link to work.
This initial release of the Google Search app includes several features that help you to search faster - suggestions appear automatically as you type, you can choose to repeat a query from your search history, and your current location is used to provide more relevant results.

ReplyDeleteAlso a Google app is nice, but the main thing we want is to change the search default in the browser. The default in IE Mobile is Bing, but on my HTC HD7 it is Yahoo.

ReplyDeleteFor those that cannot find this. Go to the Marketplace then Apps then Tools then Free. It is located there, for me, third from the bottom.

For those of you asking for maps and youtube apps. Do you realize that microsoft does not allow native code. That mean that Google would have to do a from the ground up rewrite in c#. The will have to throw away all their existing codebase, they cant just do a port. Do you think they will bother with that in order to support a competitors platform?
ReplyDeleteThis is also why you will never see third party browsers. Firefox abandoned its port as soon as WP7 was announced.

Also, for anyone wanting a YouTube app, get "Youtube by LazyWorm" app from the WP7 Marketplace. It's an actual Youtube app not a plugin.

This is great, but what is really needed is Google Maps, Talk & Voice!! There are no IM clients in the marketplace right now so Google Talk would crush the competition.
