Recap of Macworld 2009

Friday, January 16, 2009 | 5:30 PM

Last week the Google Mobile team joined Googlers from the Geo, YouTube and Mac teams at the 2009 Macworld Expo at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. This year, the Google booth featured fun giveaways, a YouTube upload booth, an Earth Surfer, and an iPhone charging station. Check out some pictures from the Google booth:

Along with demoing mobile products for the iPhone and iPod touch, we also shared the secret behind the hidden options in the Google Mobile App. If you didn't get a chance to stop by the booth at Macworld and haven't discovered the secret, you can get some hints from bloggers, tech sites, or vloggers.

We hope you enjoy the Bells and Whistles! Also, we wanted to give a big thanks to our users and the Mac Observer which gave the Google Mobile App the 2009 Editor's Choice Award!

Please could we have some official explanation of the decision to block iPod/iPhone access to the iPhone optimized iGoogle page? We're now all getting redirected to a much less functional version of iGoogle and there's no apparent option to change this.

Yeah I want to know why I can't access the iPhone optimised page anymore. Without it, I will have to stop using iGoogle entirely, even on my desktop, because I want to always see the same information whether I'm on my phone or at my desk. The regular mobile iGoogle page is a joke. I can't even choose how many RSS headlines I want to see for each feed!

That's great Googlers!! How about some voice search for your OWN phone!? Huh? We are on a wild cupcake chase and we really want some new features, like VOICE search. G1 is great and Android has great potential, but not doing anything to quiet the rumor mill during the cupcake debacle is unforgivable. I'm sure the following update will be followed with just as much fervor!

Any word from this of working with Apple to put a non-rubbish YouTube app on the iPhone then?

i.e. one that allows me to look at a poster's other videos, view channels and subscriptions, search by last upload and all the other things that make finding things on YouTube remotely possible?
