Now available: orkut on your mobile phone

Have you ever wanted to check if your buddy responded to your scrap about this evening's plans, but not been close to a computer? Do you wish you could pass the time on your long commute home by browsing through your friends' profiles?
Fret no more -- if you have a web-enabled phone and a data plan, just point your mobile web browser to m.orkut.com, and stay connected to your friends anytime, anywhere.
We understand that often your phone's data network isn't as fast as your computer's, so in designing orkut for mobile we focused on offering the features that are most useful when you're on the move, instead of replicating all the desktop features. For example, we've made it easy to send, receive, and respond to scraps on our mobile interface so that you can step away from your computer and have conversations on the go. From your phone, simply click the new "Reply" link to respond directly to a scrap from your friend. You can also read recent updates from your friends, view upcoming birthdays, look up and add friends, and accept friend requests.
After you try out orkut for mobile, we'd love to hear what you think. From the m.orkut.com homepage, click on the "help" link at the bottom of the screen to send us your feedback.
Happy mobile orkuting!

Hey Google,
When are you going to include forums within Orkut mobile?
While I am excited that I can quickly view Orkut via iPhone, I am saddened that I can not stay "in the loop" with my favorite forums.
I guess I'll have to use the regular interface until "things change." ;-)
PS
Thanks for finally bringing this as it will (hopefully) cut down on the number of stolen Google accounts via third party mobile sites.

This would be a great move...if the development team had remembered to allow the user to choose between the mobile or the default version.
Why would I want to access the mobile version over a wi-fi connection through a device that supports the default version of Orkut, like symbian devices running Opera Mini?
Bad move, Orkut team...

you know, honestly I am shocked that you guys decided to create the mobile version of orkut and didnt occur to you to give US the option of deciding which one WE want to use.
It's very upsetting actually to realize that you are basically FORCING us to use something such a poor version of ur amazing website.
I totally understand and respect the fact that while creating this version u had on mind users who don't have fast connection on the mobile devices. But u just can't be so limited to no think that some people do not have this problem. That's why every website with a mobile version gives the users the option to choose the best one for their situation and reality. Like myspace, youtube... Just to mention a couple of them!
the mobile version of orkut is awful but if u gonna stick with it at least let us decide which one we want to use

Hi, I am facing a peculiar problem with accessing my orkut account from this evening. The page opens with only the side scroll bar but no bottom scroll bar so I couldn't access the full page. This is happening only with opening my account but not with others and other sites are also opening quite normally. Please help me to solve this problem.

Hey tanu, that's kind of strange! Same problem here, there is a side scroll car but no bottom scroll bar, and when you try to change it to mobile view the page blanks out. I am worried too with this and it is not that only your account is not working. All my friends tried the same but it is not working. I use a samsung j600. If someone knows the solution, could you please let up know what should be done? Regards
