They haven't and will not allow background apps. Google may be waiting for Apple to get notification service in 3.0 off of the ground before releasing another actual app. Using a push notification service is getting halfway there (good enough) and should work kinda like BeeJive, which is the only way to go right now.

The BB application spoils you though, but that's because RIM allows the app to run all of the time and also actually integrate into the phone. Much more freedom than Apple allows.Daaaaavehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02027794030089500011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1737808092791042537.post-17971483481221589992009-04-09T12:38:00.000-07:002009-04-09T12:38:00.000-07:00I have been playing with this a little bit, but th...I have been playing with this a little bit, but the application on the BlackBerry is way better because it always runs. I don't like the requirement to keep the browser active all the time, and, in my experience, when my iPhone locks (security), when I go back in after entering my security PIN, the connection is lost. I didn't receive a reply from my wife today as a result of this. On the BB it's no problem--same with the desktop integration through iTalk.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03493728743313141003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1737808092791042537.post-35624712787557942332009-03-28T00:21:00.000-07:002009-03-28T00:21:00.000-07:00I am getting the same 404 error too! for about 2 w...I am getting the same 404 error too! for about 2 weeks now - any ideas?Michaelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13593232308883750968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1737808092791042537.post-10557277940910899802009-03-26T11:53:00.000-07:002009-03-26T11:53:00.000-07:00arrgh..recently switched from pearl to iphone..wil...arrgh..recently switched from pearl to iphone..will go back to pearl..i am too much into push and PROPER gtalk..the damn thing doesn't even work..404 error..what the heck

this is the first time, i am seriously disappointed with google's products. not only talk, pretty much every google app on iphone sucks..not sure if it has to do with google or appleUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09965051604565040150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1737808092791042537.post-77996878011265794572009-03-25T11:16:00.000-07:002009-03-25T11:16:00.000-07:00I get the same 404 error.I get the same 404 error.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02818835831893451361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1737808092791042537.post-83871821567916453322009-03-24T07:52:00.000-07:002009-03-24T07:52:00.000-07:00gP- I am getting a 404 Error as well.gP-
I am getting a 404 Error as well.soysaucesamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05794691952785804771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1737808092791042537.post-28913503789505374612009-03-23T13:30:00.000-07:002009-03-23T13:30:00.000-07:00is gtalk down?
