Say you're in a store and having a hard time deciding between two products. Instead of waiting to go home to check the internet for ratings and reviews, you can now get all of this information right there on the spot. Just take out your phone, go to Google.com in your browser, and try out Google Product Search for mobile. From Google.com, type in a query and then tap on the "shopping" link that appears in the search results. Or, tap on the "more" tab and then "shopping" to get to Product Search directly.
Google Product Search for mobile gives you the same product information that you would get at your computer. And when you click on products like electronics and video games, you'll see dedicated product pages that include ratings charts and technical specifications. Watch this video for a demo and to see how I can use Product Search for mobile while shopping at our company store and one of our "Hardware Depots."The new Product Search results pages for mobile are available in the US and UK, and for iPhone and Android-powered devices. I don't understand why Google is neglecting S60 platform.
ReplyDeleteBlackberry? Hello? Google's best mobile work is on the blackberry, they need to stop leaving it out!

ReplyDeleteI think this is great, but I agree with adding Blackberry to the mix. Maybe just an app? For those on Blackberry, and who use Google for EVERYTHING it would be nice to see that.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why Google is neglecting S60 platform (2).
ReplyDeleteBlackberry is so yesterday
ReplyDeleteThink about this. iphone has only fun software and good touch, but for the business community is still impractical in my opinion for email, especially client based and pop3, and other biz functions. Add power of Google apps, and add fun (Google earth, barcode, and expand app store) to a Blackberry superior platform, and iphone will be inferior. Blackberry will be ahead of iphone in 1 yr in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work Google!
I don't understand the point of this. This is just a mobile web page. There are already apps available in the market that are better, that allow bar-code scanning.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing - in this demo version the Google employee is using an iPhone! WTF?! I'm starting to question Google's commitment to it's own product. I couldn't care less about some new mobile web page... where in the hell is Cupcake??? Where are the other apps for Google's other mobile-services? Seriously, guys. You ask people to use and support your products but your focus is elsewhere.
This is huge for those of us that shop while in the car (yeah, I know, I should definately pull over 1st!). It's also shows the importance of a business optimizing for their products, services, or, in my case, food!

What about enabling these pages for the Iris browser for windows mobile? Like iPhone & Android it uses Webkit...so pages should load properly!
ReplyDeleteI just love what ever google doing its easy great and fun
ReplyDeleteBig Fan of Google and love whatever you guys do.

I changed the user agent in my Opera Mobile browser on Windows Mobile to the iPhone, and it works flawlessly.
ReplyDeleteJust like Gmail for iPhone. You should autodetect more mobile browsers, not just iPhone and Android.

ReplyDeleteNice, but before adding a mobile version/or additional supported mobiles, What about making the real product (Google Product Search) available worldwide ?
ReplyDeleteI am curious as to why they have neglected Windows Mobile users. It's not like there only a few of us. Haters: please save your comments. I don't like iphones and AT&T doesn't have a G1.
ReplyDeletei like the g1 better then the blackberry
ReplyDeleteI like how the "store" is just a cubicle inside the Google offices. W..T..F.
ReplyDeleteHere's what you need to do: get a semi-tech-savvy kid from the nearest college and have him go out with a camera crew and visit a few real places testing out the phone and its apps. It will look far more convincing as well as spare us from having to see yet another programmer pretending to be funny and approachable, all the while showing us how horrible they are in front of a camera.
Get some real people out there to show us, and tell wonder-geek to get back to work.
Doesn't seem to work in Canada on my iphone :(
