New YouTube App for Windows Mobile and Nokia S60 phones

We've been working hard to support more devices and to offer better speed, quality, and robustness in the YouTube app. So we're excited to announce a new version of our mobile YouTube application that's optimized for most Window Mobile and Symbian Series 60 devices. Visit m.youtube.com from your phone to download the app.
  • More phones: Supports most Windows Mobile and Nokia S60 devices (a list of supported Nokia S60 devices is available here).
  • Speed: Faster application start-up, searching, and video loading. For even quicker access, add the application icon to your phone's home screen.
  • Video quality: The application automatically detects your device and network capabilities, and selects the highest available stream quality based on those. Videos will look sharper and sound clearer than ever.
  • WiFi: Improved streaming over WiFi to support a wider range of networks.
  • More robust streaming: Improved buffering ensures that videos will play even in weak coverage areas.
  • Easy video viewing: Once installed, no configuration is required outside of the application. We've worked really hard to make video playback "just work".
The application will alert you as more improvements become available, so keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, visit our Community Help Forums to leave feedback for us.

    While I originally came here to say "Awesome. Thanks for giving Windows Mobile some love. =)" I find that I can't play any videos. The app keeps crashing every time I click on a video and I've tried different ones. Maybe it's time for a hard reset, but who knows. I'm running a Treo 800w.

    Why N78 not supported? N85 and N79 yes, N78 no. Why? All S60 3rd edition FP2.

    Awsome, good work. Sleek design and a very very user friendly interface. I like the image roating effect just before the video starts to play.

    I think it would be really nice if we can cache the buffered videos. So we can play them when we dont have internet connection. Hope someday you can come up with such a thing. Not asking the download functionality. But using the app to view already watched ones.

    I have a Nokia E63 which is said to be supported but when I try to download the app it says that my phone is NOT supported? Tried both Nokia's standard browser and Opera Mini.

    Is there a chance to download the installation-file to my computer and then send it to my phone?

    So what are the system requirements for Windows Mobile? My HP iPAQ hx2755 running WM2003SE reports that the CAB is not a valid Windows CE Setup file.

    Same here, I am not able to find a download link on my N82. When I go to http://m.youtube.com/app, it says that my model is not supported. Someone help please.

    Hey guys, could you please develop something similar for BlackBerry users? The current mobile YouTube experience on BlackBerry leaves a lot to be desired. (the video quality is especially bad, while I know my device is capable of higher quality video streaming)

    Hi there! Was looking forward to using the new app but my Nokia E71 (firmware 110.07.127) is not supported. Althoug it's on the list?!? Any help appreciated.

    I have an N78, and it works fine on that!! The list was a sample list, not a complete one.

    Can I set it to be a default clip browser? Links from mobile sites still launch my Real Player.

    I can't download this with my E51, the page complains that my phone in unsupported. I tried with my wifi and 3g connection... Please give me a solution :)

    i'm using Samsung Omnia and i live in HK, the cab file can be installed without any problem and the program can be loaded successfully, however, everytime once i've chosen a video and clicked to play it, and after the program started loading the video for a few sec, an error message is prompted as per the below:

    "cannot find the required codecs"

    anyone knows wot i should do pls?

    It'd be great if a link to this program could be integrated into the Google Mobile App bar that appears on the Today screen. I see no reason for it not to be.

    I know these products are new, so I'm confident such changes will take place in the near future.

    I've installed this app on my Samsung i780, and it works nicely in terms of speed and quality. However, the videos automatically show up in landscape view (which is not suitable for samsung i780 as it has a 320x320 screen). Is there a way to view videos in portrait mode instead? Also, after exiting the application, my today home screen is affected - icons and words do not show up properly, and I have to restart the device.

    Ok, so I guess the incompatibility with the Treo 800w isn't because of the 320x320 resolution if that i780 [sort of] works.

    You are very close to support the newest Symbian phones, that is with S60 5th edition. The only thing not working is that the touch keyboard is not opening to type text in the search field. One can thus not do searches. Everything else works fine. Fix this soon in a minor update.
